The range of functions overlaps heavily with ours, and we do not claim to surpass it. SchuleVernetzt starts somewhere else: it treats not the single school but the school network as one unit – a substitute pool that reaches across school boundaries, joint courses with one register, a material library for the network. Cover does not stop at the school gate
For an open lesson, Schulmanager Online suggests available teachers from your own school. If you want, SchuleVernetzt keeps looking within the network – with subject matching, and as a request to the neighbouring school rather than an assignment.
Courses across several schools
A course that none of the participating schools fills on its own runs jointly in the network: created once, opened to the member schools and kept with an attendance register in which the home school of every enrolled person stays visible.
One access instead of a module kit
Schulmanager Online lets the school assemble its individual package from modules, some of which require others. With SchuleVernetzt the scope belongs together: one login, one permission system, no combination question up front.
A view across all sites
A school authority sees the cancellation rate, active classes and open cover lessons of the releasing schools in a live dashboard – without anyone collecting figures from several separate school installations.

Move the data
Classes and student lists arrive as CSV, the timetable and cover plan from Untis or Indiware. A preview shows duplicates and faulty rows before anything is saved. The plan does not have to be rebuilt.

Start with one area
One year group, one subject department or a single class register is enough to begin. As long as the old system keeps running there is no risk, and the staff judge by everyday use rather than by a demo.

Add the network
Only once your own school is running does the network follow: the joining code goes to the neighbouring schools, the releases are agreed, done. From then on open cover lessons receive suggestions from the partner staff rooms.

Suitability, data protection and an honest look
Where the two systems overlap
The larger part of this comparison is common ground, and that belongs at the start. On its website Schulmanager Online describes a digital class register with lesson content, homework and student-related entries, an absences module into which sick notes from parents flow automatically, parent letters by e-mail and app with read receipts, a digital grade book with weighted grade types, plus timetable and cover planning with suggestions for available teachers. SchuleVernetzt does all of that too. Anyone looking for an alternative because one of these functions is missing is looking in the wrong place: they are there. The comparison only becomes interesting where a school does not plan on its own but with its neighbours.
What only works within a network
The difference begins at the school boundary. When a teacher is out and nobody in your own staff room is free, the search usually ends – in the network it continues: SchuleVernetzt suggests teachers from the participating schools who are free at the same time and cover the subject. What follows is a request, not an assignment; the other school approves or declines it, and contact details only become visible once it is approved. The same applies to courses: a course that no school fills alone is created once, opened to the network and kept with a shared attendance register. Added to that are a material library with a release per school and an authority dashboard across all releasing sites. None of these releases is active by default.
When Schulmanager Online is the better choice
There are schools for which we are the poorer choice today, and this page should not stay silent about that. SchuleVernetzt is pre-launch: there is a waiting list, no reference schools and nobody in the next town you could call beforehand. Schulmanager Online, by contrast, publishes accounts from schools that have used the system in daily life for years. Its range of functions is broader as well: modules such as school enrolment, resource booking, all-day care or the overtime accounting for Bavarian schools have no counterpart with us. Anyone who needs exactly those building blocks, plans for a single school and values a well-established system is better served by Schulmanager Online. Our strength only takes effect once several schools want to plan together.
What a switch means in practice
Class and student lists come over as CSV, timetables and cover plans from Untis or Indiware. The change of school year is the quietest window for it; until then SchuleVernetzt can be trialled in parallel with one class or one subject department. A switch does not have to be complete on day one.
