Four steps to a digital class register
From the first login to the analysis at the end of the school year, it takes four steps that a school can work through on its own, with no training days and no extra hardware.

Set up classes and subjects
The school leadership creates classes, subjects and teachers, or imports an existing timetable. After that, every teacher sees exactly the lessons they actually teach as soon as they log in.

Log attendance every period
During the lesson the teacher taps attendance, lateness or absence. The entry belongs to the individual period rather than to the whole day, which makes it dependable straight away.

Reconcile the excuse notes
When parents report their child sick, the system assigns the report to the affected periods and marks them as excused. Only what is genuinely unexcused stays open.

Analyse and archive
For reports or parent meetings, the statistics supply the totals per pupil and school year. Older school years stay readably archived until the retention period that applies to your school has expired.

The digital class register in detail
Attendance per period, not per day
A paper class register usually knows only the whole day of absence. It cannot answer whether a child missed the third period or was only away from the fifth onwards. SchuleVernetzt records attendance where it arises: in the individual lesson. Every teacher notes for their own period who was there, who arrived late and who was missing – on a tablet, laptop or phone, in a matter of seconds. Those period entries automatically build up into the picture of the day, and from there into the yearly total. Lateness, single missed lessons and full days of absence stay separately countable, because the school rules treat them differently. Lesson content and homework sit in the same entry, so a cover teacher can see at once where the class stands.
Excuse notes and absences belong together
The greatest effort is not the recording but the joining up: here the missed period in the register, there the phone call from the parents, later the slip of paper in the folder. SchuleVernetzt handles both in one operation. When a sick note arrives, the system looks for the affected periods and marks them as excused – retroactively as well as for a future date range. Whatever is still open afterwards is genuinely unexcused and stays visible to the form teacher instead of disappearing into a tally list. If your school requires a doctor's note from a certain day of absence, the system reminds in good time; which day that is, or whether such a threshold exists at all, comes from your school's attendance policy and the education law behind it, not from the software.
Data protection, roles and retention
A class register holds personal data on minors, and in part health data. SchuleVernetzt processes it exclusively on servers inside the EU, in Germany, and supplies the data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR as well as a procedural description for the record of processing activities. Who sees what is decided by the role: a subject teacher sees their own lessons, the form teacher the whole class, the school office the incoming excuse notes. Every access and every later change lands in the audit trail, so that a correction stays traceable. At the end of the retention period – whose length comes from the education law your school sits under – year groups can be deleted in an orderly way, instead of storing files in the basement indefinitely.
