Why teachers manage their grades digitally
Marks logged in seconds
Tap the mark, choose the weighting, done. Exams, quizzes or oral participation – it all lands in one place and is there on every device straight away.
The average calculates itself
Weighted averages, trends and report grades are worked out by the software automatically – no recalculating, no arithmetic slips on report day.

Grades are encrypted and visible only to you – no WhatsApp, no grade list on a private laptop. GDPR-compliant and hosted on servers inside the EU.
Start free, grow with the school
You begin on your own and for free. When your school moves to SchuleVernetzt, your grades flow into the shared system – without retyping a thing.
How grade management runs across the school year
From the first exam to the report conference you manage your grades in four steps – set up once, the software keeps calculating for the whole school year.
-
1
Create classes and subjects
You set up your teaching groups and assign each subject the types of assessment you grade: exams, quizzes, oral participation, projects. You configure this structure once and use it for the whole school year.
-
2
Set the weightings
Every assessment type gets its weight – an exam that counts double, for example, or a fixed ratio of written to oral work. Whatever your school and the authority responsible for it prescribe, you store it once per subject.
-
3
Record marks instantly
Tap the mark; date and assessment type are pre-filled – done. It works on a phone in the middle of a lesson just as well as on a computer in the evening; every device shows the same state at once.
-
4
Average and report grade
The weighted average is available at any time, for each individual and for the whole teaching group. For the report conference you take the overview with you or hand it over to the shared school system.

Digital grade management in everyday school life
Calculating weighted grades correctly
A grade average rarely comes from a simple mean. In most subjects the written area counts differently from the oral one, and within the written area an exam weighs more than a short quiz. In digital grade management you store this ratio once per subject: you define the assessment types, give each one a weight and decide whether written and oral work are shown separately. From then on the system does the maths with every new mark, and the current state is visible at any time – not only at the end of the term. Because the weighting is documented, you can explain it in a parent meeting whenever you need to. What it is allowed to look like is set by the rules that apply to your school – nationally, regionally or by the subject board, depending on the education system you work in.
What grade management software has to do
Anyone looking for a grade program or a tool for digital grade management usually compares four things. First the weighting: can the ratio of written to oral work be set freely per subject, or does the program only calculate a plain average? Second the entry: does a mark go in on a phone during the lesson, or do you have to sit down at a computer again in the evening? Third the route to the report: does the report grade come out of the marks already recorded, or is it copied across by hand at the end? And fourth the legal side: who is the controller, where do the servers stand, how long is the data kept. This page answers the question that comes before all of that – what grade management has to do across a school year in the first place. The comparison is rarely with a blank sheet: most teachers already keep their grades somewhere, very often in an Excel list. Excel is a strong tool – for grade data it is the wrong one, because a spreadsheet does not keep the weighting the same for everyone and does not record who has seen the file. How the switch works and what becomes of the old list is set out step by step on the page “Grade management instead of Excel”, linked further down under “More on this topic”. For a single calculation without an account there is the grade calculator.
From single entry to report
Between the last mark and the finished report lies what many staff rooms consider the least pleasant part of the term: retyping, cross-checking, rounding. Digitally the path stays short. The recorded individual marks produce the weighted average per subject and from that a suggestion for the report grade – editable, because the pedagogical decision stays with you. The grading scale, the grading key and the question of whether tendencies are shown depend on the education system your school belongs to; you set them once. If your school later introduces SchuleVernetzt as shared grade management software, you bring classes, subjects and grades with you – without an export file and without entering anything twice.
Ready in a few minutes
Create a class, set subjects and weightings – done. You manage your grades on your own and for free from minute one. When your school later adopts SchuleVernetzt, you bring your classes and grades into the shared system with a single click.
